An Assembly and Test Technician is now required to join this world leader in the design, development and manufacture of precision, innovative downhole electromechanical data acquisition instrumentation for the worldwide oil and gas industry based near Cardiff. Their products are used to measure flow, pressure, temperature and other parameters within the well bore.
As Assembly & Test Technician your primary duty will be the production of electro-mechanical instrumentation for use in oil and gas wells. This will involve kitting pcb's and instruments, hand assembling both surface mount and through hole pcb's, using high and very high temperature solders and wiring electro-mechanical instrumentation, as well as PCB milling, Coil winding and complete environmental testing of equipment and systems.
You will also be required to trouble shoot instruments to component level and repair and test instrumentation, as required.
To succeed as Assembly & Test Technician you should be qualified to HNC/HND level with experience in a similar role. You must be able to demonstrate experience of the hand assembly of SMD circuit boards, installation of product wiring looms, build / assembly of electro-mechanical systems and trouble shooting to board / component level as well as knowledge of IPC-A-610 Class C.
You should be highly computer literate, have good organisational skills and demonstrable written and verbal communication skills.
Experience of Low volume semi-automated testing and of using high temperature solders (Sn05 / Sn96) would be advantageous, but is not essential.
The Assembly & Test Technician will need the ability to ‘think', identify issues and offer solutions and to work to challenging deadlines in a fast changing, high pressure environment. You must be able to demonstrate a complete commitment to quality, a ‘Can Do' attitude showing passion and drive and a practical, hands-on, coaching approach.
You must be able to work with minimum supervision / self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a small team.
